Muffin Austin...1991-2008

We lost a beloved family member yesterday...Muffin was the second dog (after Sam the cocker spaniel) that I remember as a child. The above picture was taken on my 14th birthday - I can hardly believe that was 50% of my current life ago!

Muffin was a part of so many things in the past 17 years of our lives...one memory that comes to mind...as most children are, I was not particularly gentle with dogs. I remember chasing her around the house to where she would finally jump up onto our blue L-shaped couch in the game room. I would then pick her up, hug her probably WAY too hard, and then let her go on her merry way.

R.I.P. Muffy...we will miss you...

  1. Another memory that just came to mind...there was a small, square-shaped window between the living room and the kitchen. I remember Muffin sitting on top of our couch to watch my mom (or whomever) washing dishes at the sink.

  2. We had lots of pets before Muffin, but she was the first one that was a considered a real member of our family. Mom took her everywhere - to pick up Kristi, come to my tennis matches, everywhere. Muffin even was allowed to sleep in my parent's bed. I always remember my mom leaving to go pick up my sister or dad from the airport. She'd grab her key, her purse and then grab muffin and they would head out in her blue mercedes. With out Muffin there would have been no Scoote, no Jack, no Jolie. Muffin kind of paved the way for pets in our family. RIP dear Muffin. You will be missed. Love Maili.
