Frustrating afternoon...

Thursdays are usually pretty busy in our house because I'm catching up on all the errands I have meant to take care of all week. Well, today in addition to the grocery shopping and house cleaning I usually try to accomplish, I needed to take Bandit (our pug) for his rabies shot. I have been meaning to do this for weeks and putting it off because the thought of carting a 10 month old baby and a disobedient dog to a mobile vet on the side of a busy road has not sounded appealing to me.

So today was going to be the day - and it started out very well...I already had Kendall in the car from our first visit to the Colleyville Farmers Market, so I ran into the house, loaded up the dog, necessary paper work, and we were on our way. It's a little chilly today, so I had Kendall in her last clean coat, which is still a little big for her so that makes getting her in and out of her car seat and stroller not fun for any parties involved. So I arrive at the Feed Store where the mobile vet parks, unload the stroller, remove screaming child from point a to point b (neither of which she wants to be), remove the pug and wait in line for the vet. In line for this vet, I have to fill out the paperwork while simultaneously trying to keep the pug from committing doggie-cide by attempting to himself out of his leash into oncoming traffic, and trying to keep Kendall out of the piercingly cold wind.

So I finally get to the front of the line...the vet I think feels a little sorry for me and may be wondering why I have brought my baby in the increasingly cold afternoon....so he tells me to go back to my car with everyone and he will meet with me with the shots. Then begins the reload process....baby out of stroller into seat, etc etc etc. I decide to be somewhat prepared for him, so I start to pre-fill out the check when I realize...I wrote my last check Sunday! And the vet doesn't take credit cards...

I almost cried...so now I get to do this whole fun experience in another couple weeks....

Arghh
